Google Analytics

[00:00:00] In this video, we’re gonna talk about setting up analytics and then linking analytics with Google Tags Manager. Think of analytics as like all of the cool stuff that you need to know about your website, like where your traffic’s coming from, how long they stay, what your bounce rate is. Uh, daily traffic, weekly traffic, monthly traffic, your best converting pages, your worst converting pages.

[00:00:18] Most of you aren’t going to look at a. Which is totally okay. I don’t think you really need to. Uh, but because we need this for Google remarketing, uh, we need to install it anyway, so I’m gonna go back to my little screen share here. And you notice when I went to Tag, I have all these options up here.

[00:00:36] And you see I have analytics and Tag Manager. So I’m gonna click over here to Analytics and I’ve got all these accounts here, but we’re just gonna go to admin or I’m gonna, I don’t know how I can get out of one of these. Let’s, we’ll go here. Just open this. , you’re not gonna see this cuz you probably don’t have an account right now, which is totally fine.

[00:00:55] Uh, but we’re gonna go to all accounts and then we’re gonna go, uh, visit Platform Home. That’s [00:01:00] probably where we need to go. Nope, just kidding. That’s not,

[00:01:07] uh, there’s normally a, Oh, it’s right here. There we go. So now it’s gonna say create account. So this is probably the screen you’re gonna be welcome to when you do this. Uh, so I’m gonna create an account right here and I’m gonna call this. The It’s not a real domain, so I don’t go to it. And then, And I wanna do that benchmarking.

[00:01:26] Yes. Technical support. Yes. Account specialists. Yes. I’m gonna hit next, and we’re gonna call this Steve the Coach. Cause that’s the name of my company. I’m based in West Coast, here in San Diego. So we’re gonna select Los Angeles. You can click Advance Options. You don’t need any of this. We’re gonna hit next.

[00:01:42] How big is your company? Whatever. It doesn’t matter. I don’t even know why we need to do this. . Um, but we’ll do, just to make them happy, we’ll do other . Uh, and then it’s gonna say, What do you wanna do with this? Just click other again, Doesn’t really matter. I wanna measure, um, [00:02:00] customer engagement on my site and I wanna measure data across multiple devices.

[00:02:05] Hit okay, Yes, I want to agree with that. I accept, And then now it’s gonna say, Hey, let’s start collecting data. So we want to collect. . So click there and you’re gonna say, uh, this is gonna go to Steve the, Steve the coach. I want to track page view scrolls, outbound clicks, site search, video engagement, all that stuff.

[00:02:29] Good. Create stream. And now it just gave me this little stream ID and my G measurement id. That’s exactly what I want right now, right? So I want to get tag instructions, click. and it’s gonna say, do you want to install this directly or install manually? Well, I don’t really don’t care about any of this.

[00:02:49] Use Google Tag Manager. Yes, we do use Google Tag Manager. So we don’t need to do any of this. We’ve already got all this. Set it up. So we’ve got Steve, the coach. So we’re gonna go [00:03:00] back to Tags Manager, Tag manager. Now we’re gonna go back into Steve, the coach. There it is right there.

[00:03:07] And we’re gonna go to add a new tag and we wanna link tags Manager, Tag manager with Google Analytics, cuz remember Tags man Tag Manager is our shopping cart. Google Analytics is just a piece of code we need to put on the website. So we’re gonna click here and we’re gonna go find Google Analytics GA four configuration cuz that’s all they use right now.

[00:03:28] And if we go back here and we click this, we notice that our G measurement id, and I don’t even know if. ready. So we’re just gonna copy this. We’re gonna go back to Tags Manager, we’re gonna post it right there. And then all you don’t worry about this fields to set. Don’t worry about any of that. Don’t worry about any of this.

[00:03:44] Don’t worry about any of this. And we’re gonna go to triggering. We’re gonna go to all pages. This should already be in your account, and we’re just gonna call this Google Analytics

[00:03:57] GA four. And of course you guys are gonna [00:04:00] spell analytics, right? It’s save. And then we’re gonna hit submit Now, um, one of the things that, uh, we already deployed the tag, so once I hit submit right here, we’re gonna call this, uh, Google Analytics.

[00:04:19] It publish. All this did was add this piece of code to this website over here. We don’t need to change anything on the website that’s completely done. So if I go over here to re, this is just a sample site that we. and I look at my little code builder here and I code to enable, and then I refresh this.

[00:04:41] Now you can see right there I have Google Tags, Manager, everything’s all installed. There’s my Google site tag, so we know that it’s in there. Right? That’s literally all you need to. to install analytics on the site. [00:05:00] The second thing we’re gonna do in the next call is we are going to install the Google and we’re gonna link Google AdWords with Google Analytics so that we can use the audiences that we create and all the traffic from our website.
