Google Tag Manager

[00:00:00] Okay. Let’s talk a little bit about, uh, Google Tags Manager really quick. Uh, think of, think of, uh, you know, all the little things that you can put on the website as being a grocery store, right? So we have like milk, we have bread, we have cereal, we have like toiletries, we have fruit, we have meat, We have, you know, all that stuff that we can go to the supermarket and get and bring home.

[00:00:20] But in order to get it off the shelves to the checkout counter, we need a shopping cart. We need like, This mechanism that we can take all the stuff off the shelves and put it in the shopping cart and take one shopping cart to the checkout stand, and then take everything outta the shopping cart and then, you know, buy it and then take it home in bags, right?

[00:00:36] Think of Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel and TikTok Pixel, all that stuff. Those are all the ingredients in the store, and you need to put all the ingredients in the store onto your website. So we need a shopping cart to house all that. That’s what Tag Manager is. So Tag Manager is one piece of code that you install on your website and put every.

[00:00:54] And then all the other things are just like little ingredients or little things that we buy, um, at the grocery store that we [00:01:00] put in that. So Tag Manager, we need to go create an account. It’s free. If you use Google Apps, uh, if you use Google email, that’s the email you should be using. Uh, then this was free.

[00:01:08] It’s included within that, and we can install that, right? So let’s go to, uh, Super Source over here. Now I have a bunch of these set up. Um, yours is gonna look blank right here. You’re just gonna go to tag manager.google.com. You’ll log in with your primary Google address. You’ll hit create. and you’re just doing my name right?

[00:01:25] The name of the company, the name of the states. This is, uh, your, whatever your domain is. So just type in like, you know, whatever your domain is, it’s not cnn, I understand that. Um, you’re gonna select web, uh, if it’s an app, you could do that, but most of you guys are not gonna do that. So we’re just gonna call this, um, Steve the coach, and then maybe this is like Steve the coach.com.

[00:01:47] And again, I’m gonna delete this anyway, but you’re gonna hit create and it’s gonna say, Hey, are you sure you wanna do this? Like, you’re not fraudulent, are you? You’re gonna click this, you’re gonna say yes. And then from here you’ve got your tag [00:02:00] manager account. So you need to install these pieces of code.

[00:02:03] Now don’t copy this cuz I’m gonna, you know, I’m gonna delete this account here once this video’s down. Uh, but you’re gonna copy this and you’re gonna put this in the head. So again, if we go to, I’m just gonna log into a, um, page that we have. Or an account that we have.

[00:02:21] If you’re using WordPress at Elementor, this is how you’re gonna do it. So log in here and remind me later on this,

[00:02:33] and all we’re gonna do is gonna go to Elementor and we’re gonna go to, I think it’s just settings or No, it’s custom code. I’m sorry. So Elementor then custom code and it’s gonna say, We’re gonna call this Google Tag Manager, and it’s gonna say, Do you wanna put this in the head, the body, or the footer?

[00:02:52] That’s what body end is, right? And so we’re gonna go back over here to tag manager. It says, Put this in the head. So we’re gonna [00:03:00] copy this piece of code right there. We’re gonna copy it right there. And then there’s a second piece of code. This says, Additionally paste this code immediately after the opening body tag.

[00:03:08] So we’re gonna copy that code. We’re gonna change this to Body Start.

[00:03:16] Oh, leave that in head. Publish that. We wanna do that on the entire site. Hit save and close. And then we’re gonna add another piece of code and we’re gonna call this Google Tag Manager body, and we’re gonna make this the body. Then we’re gonna paste that code right there and we’re gonna hit publish.

[00:03:34] Entire site save and close. So what we just did here is we added a whole bunch of code into the site. We’ve got this code in the head right there. Oh, let’s go back here to, so we can see all of it. Custom code. So we’ve got Google Tag Manager and this says it’s in the head. And uh, we have Google Tag Manager body that’s in the body start.

[00:03:54] That’s how you install it. It’s literally that easy. And once you’re done, you hit. . And then now every [00:04:00] piece of code that we do, whether it’s the Facebook Pixel, whether it’s Google Ads tracking, whether it’s Google Analytics, all of that now is going to go inside the Tag Manager. Now, I know I showed you in a previous video how to take your Facebook pixel and put it right in elementary.

[00:04:13] If you’ve already done that, that’s totally fine. You don’t need to change it. Uh, if you want everything in Tag Manager to keep everything organized and streamlined, then we would delete that out of elementary and we’d come here and create a new tag. All right. Uh, that’s how you install Tag Manager. And the next video is we’re gonna link tags, manager and analytics, and Google Ads all together, so it’s all on the website.
