The Google Ad Creative

[00:00:00] So let’s talk about the ads that we’re gonna run right now based on some traffic that we’re gonna do. So I’m gonna launch a campaign as a sample, uh, of all of our traffic to Steve olson.co that are not leads. That’s the audience I’m going after. So I wanna show you really quick what an ad may look like, and as I’m refreshing this screen, the ad just changed.

[00:00:16] So we’ll see if this can get any better. Uh, but I’m on Mac rumors right now, which runs a lot of Google A So this would be an image only ad. This is not what we’re gonna create, these work really well, but they’re very labor intensive, so we don’t wanna use that. Uh, this would be another image, only ad again, very labor intensive cuz we gotta, we have to create a whole bunch of different versions of this.

[00:00:36] We don’t wanna do that. Another image only. image only add image. This is an HTML five ad. This is, these are pretty hard to create. I would use an agency for those. Again, another image only ad we’re gonna keep going until we find. Here’s, here’s one that’s, um, not image only. This is image that a called action on a button.

[00:00:55] We’re gonna create that, Uh, that’s another image only ad. This is an image only. [00:01:00] Uh, this was gonna be one. So we’re gonna screenshot this. So command shift four. So all this is, is an image, a headline, a description, and a button. That’s basically what we’re gonna create right now. Let’s see if this one launches that way.

[00:01:14] No, it doesn’t. This is, uh, okay, here’s another one. This is an image. Call to action and a button. This is another one we’re gonna do. So let’s screenshot that one and we’ll give this a second here to, uh, refresh. Let’s go to older posts and see if we can see another good example.

[00:01:33] again, that’s image only,

[00:01:38] da, da da. There might not be any on page two cuz I don’t know how many people, There’s another image called action in that. So that’s what we’re gonna build. All right. Now to build, uh, the creative for this, you need two types of ads. You need a 1200 by 7 68 and you need a 1200 by 1200. So I’m gonna show you how to build that.

[00:01:54] Um, you know, I’ll give you these Photoshop files as well inside that. So let’s go open Photoshop. So we [00:02:00] need, uh, two, so I’m just gonna open one right now, 1200 by 1200. And the first thing I’m gonna do is I’m gonna go to Layer and I’m gonna go to new art board and we’re gonna call this one Google Square.

[00:02:14] Hit enter. That creates that art board. Then I’m gonna go to Layer new art board again, and I’m gonna call this, uh, Google. Landscape

[00:02:26] 1200 by 6 28. So now I’ve got, if I zoom out here, I’ve got these two things that I can work with right now. So we’re gonna build both of our ads in the same thing. So we’ve got both of our grids or our art boards over here, and we’re gonna build them. So, um, I’m gonna build a whole bunch of different versions of this, but one of the things that I’m a big fan of is you’ll notice if we go to our, um, Landing page, you know that we use a lot of these icons and we do this on purpose, and these icons I didn’t make from scratch.

[00:02:57] We pay for a service that’s called flat [00:03:00] icon.com. I think it’s like, I don’t know, 12 bucks a month or something ridiculously cheap. And if we’re talking about like building, you know, a, a real estate listing process or like a three day launch, then I’m gonna Google calendar.

[00:03:14] And I’m gonna go find a calendar icon that I like. Now, when you go in here and you pay for this, you can download an svg, which allows you to change all the color. So in mine, all I do is change the two colors to my black and teal, and that’s it. I don’t really, I don’t really do anything else, but I put this on everything because my hope is, is that if you see this enough, I can run ads and you can see that, And although this is super generic, a lot of people use this, they’re gonna say, Wait a second, I’ve seen that before.

[00:03:39] Where have I seen that before? That’s the only thing that I’m trying to achieve right now. So I’m gonna use this icon and this icon based on the ads that I’m running to get people to understand like, Oh, I’ve seen that. Let me click that. I just want familiarity right now, which is all I want. So let’s go back over here.

[00:03:55] I’m gonna go find my little logos here, [00:04:00] um, and recall these marks. And so the first thing we’re gonna do if we’re selling the course is, uh, we’re gonna go put this right there. It automatically put on that one. Let’s put it on the Google Square first. I’m gonna hit command t, I’m gonna make that a little smaller.

[00:04:21] And I’m just gonna say, we’re gonna do this in white.

[00:04:40] Change that color to our brand color. , and then that’s Oswald. I’m actually gonna make that babes. I don’t even know if I’m saying that right. And let’s make that a little bigger. Whoops.[00:05:00]

[00:05:10] Okay. I’m not going to overthink this. Because I don’t even know if this is gonna work. So for you to agonize over what these ads look like is, is crazy. Doesn’t make any sense to do that. So I’ve got my square image. I’m gonna click both of these and I’m just gonna kind of move those till that looks like it’s centered.

[00:05:30] Okay, that’s good. And now I’m gonna do is I’m gonna copy this into the other art board. Okay. So there’s that. I don’t know if this is gonna look right, but we’re gonna command t change that, move it over here.

[00:05:49] And again, this is too big, obviously, so we’re gonna take this down.

[00:05:59] That looks good. [00:06:00] Let’s change that.

[00:06:23] Okay. I think that’s all I’m gonna do for images on this one. So what I’m gonna do now is I’m gonna close this. I’m gonna close that. I’m gonna click here. I’m gonna right click and I’m gonna go to, I think it’s called, uh, Export As. And you notice I’ve got a, um, we’re gonna make these, I think we can make these pings.

[00:06:40] They don’t need to be transparent. Same thing with this one. They don’t need to be transparent. So I’ve got a 3 31 kilobyte and a 52 kilobyte image. I think I’m totally okay with that. So we’re gonna click export. Now it’s gonna say, where do you want to do this? I’m gonna just put a new folder here on my desktop.

[00:06:56] It says, Omni Brand, Google.[00:07:00]

[00:07:07] and we’re gonna make this white. Okay? So do that. Now all I’m gonna do is I’m gonna do this exact same thing, but I’m gonna create a different color cuz I want, I want as many, uh, versions of this as possible. So now I’m going to, , go back over to my mark. Let’s see if I have a white mark. I hope I do. I do.

[00:07:28] There it is right there. So I’m gonna delete this.

[00:07:34] I’m gonna make this white.

[00:07:44] And then see I have like these little background layers. I’m gonna delete this, actually draw a new square.

[00:07:55] And I’m gonna do this. My little, Oh, sorry. Default to that, which is great. Put that [00:08:00] on top of it, and then let’s duplicate this into this one. Here we go. That’s good. Now all I need to do is drag my white mark.

[00:08:19] Right there. And then I also want to copy it over to this center that,

[00:08:40] not sure why that’s not agreeing with me, so I’m gonna move this down here. There we go.

[00:08:49] So now I’ve got, again, I’ve got the same two images, but we’ve got ’em in a different color. So I’m gonna hold down shift. So I both these right click export us. I’m gonna make ’em both pings. [00:09:00] That’s a png. That’s a png. That’s good. Let’s export these. We’re gonna go back over here. We’re gonna say new folder.

[00:09:09] This is the one F 20. This is the color. . So save in there. So that’s good. And I wanna create one more, um, one more image. And in order to do do that, I’m gonna, I’m gonna make a Unsplash here, and I’m just gonna go for a scale. This is not gonna come up, right.

[00:09:37] Let’s see if advertising. Mmm.

[00:09:44] Let’s search for a while,[00:10:00]

[00:10:01] and again, remember, you don’t need to look for images that represent your brand. We’re looking, the only purpose of these images is to get a click.

[00:10:15] Let’s try this one. So I’m gonna go download this. Let’s go back over to, uh, and then all we’re gonna do is we’re gonna replace these little rectangles for that picture

[00:10:33] out of our downloads folder here. Drag this right there.

[00:10:46] And I don’t even want the, um, Is that the wide?

[00:10:52] Yeah. You know what? I don’t even want the text. Let’s just do this and let’s move this over [00:11:00] here.

[00:11:06] So that looks good. Let’s unhide this. Let’s click on this. Let’s copy it or go to this one. We’ll paste it, command T to make it bigger.

[00:11:19] Hit enter. And again, we’re gonna move the mark above it, but I just wanna put it on the side, like my only purp. Like I said, the only purpose of this is just to get people to look at it. I don’t really care if they understand what it. . So that looks good. Close this. Close that. Highlight both right click export as Ping 69 14 1 0.4.

[00:11:46] Magazines are gonna be bigger cuz I just put a photo in it. That’s totally fine. Think Google will take that. No problem. We’ll export and we’ll call this one. Wow Child.[00:12:00]

[00:12:00] Safe. So now if I go to my desktop here, go pull this up. I’ve got this. So this is what these look like at Google Landscape right here. Got that? That looks okay. I’ve got white. Okay. I don’t even know if that’s the right call to action. No idea. We’ll, let Google tell us that. So now I’ve got six images. I’m good to launch my campaign.

[00:12:27] So that’s how we create creative. This video is, you know, as of is me saying this right now is 12 minutes. That’s literally as long as I put into content creation for ads because you could, you know, you could go hire people, you could go and I’ll give you all these Photoshop files so you guys can edit these in, in your business.

[00:12:44] You could spend a lot of time creating creative, but I, there’s been times when we’ve paid a lot of money for creative and the ads just completely bombed. And I don’t know if it was creative’s fault, but they didn’t work. And then there’s some times where we do like ugly stuff where I put my face on it and I do something like this.

[00:12:58] And the ad does really well, right? So there’s [00:13:00] no, you know, you gotta, you gotta be okay testing this stuff. Well, my suggestion is, is that the only way you’re gonna learn is by getting the ads out there and seeing what your cost per click is. And as you change it, does the cost per click go up or does it go down?

[00:13:11] Like that’s, Google’s gonna tell you, Hey, we think this is doing really well, so we’re gonna reward you for it. We think this one sucks, so we’re gonna penalize you for it. But the only way you learn about that is not getting better at Photoshop. It’s not hiring a designer. It’s not, it’s not any of that.

[00:13:24] It’s spending money on ads and putting content out there and seeing what’s getting the clicks. That’s the only way this works. Below this video, I’ll drop this Photoshop file in there. You can download it, do whatever you want with it. Totally. Okay. Any questions, Let me know on the webinar. Uh, and the next one will actually lodge the.
